Sometimes Ledgerline asks you to verify your identity again, even though you just signed in. Here's why that happens and what triggers it.
Security-sensitive actions
Certain actions put your money or account at risk, so we double-check that it's really you. This includes transferring money between accounts, sending a wire transfer, freezing or activating your card, or changing your contact information. These actions get an extra verification step.
Step-up verification
We call this 'step-up verification.' You already proved you're you when you signed in, but for actions that matter most, we ask again. It's like needing a signature for a large check—an extra layer of confirmation.
What triggers re-verification?
- Transferring money to another bank
- Setting up a wire transfer
- Freezing or changing your card status
- Changing your phone number or email
- Adding or removing a connected account
- Updating payment methods
How to verify
When prompted, we'll send a 6-digit code to your phone via SMS or authenticator app. Enter that code to confirm the action. This whole process takes about 30 seconds.
Failed verification
If you can't verify your identity, the sensitive action won't complete. This is a feature, not a bug. It protects your account. If you're locked out, contact support and we'll help you regain access.
