Wire transfers move money fast, usually within hours. Here's how to send one from Ledgerline.
When to use wire transfer
Wire transfers are best for large amounts that need to move quickly. The cost is zero with Ledgerline, which is unusual—most banks charge $15 or more per wire. Use it when you need money delivered today or tomorrow, not in 1-3 business days like ACH transfers.
Gather the information
You'll need the recipient's name, bank account number, routing number, and bank name. If it's a bank account in the US, that's all you need. For international wires, you'll also need a SWIFT code and possibly an IBAN.
Initiate the wire
Open Ledgerline and go to Transfer. Select Wire Transfer. Enter the recipient's information carefully—wire transfers can't be reversed, so accuracy is critical. Double-check everything before confirming.
Verification required
For security, you'll be asked to verify your identity with two-step verification before the wire goes through. This ensures only you can send money out of your account.
Delivery timing
Domestic wires typically arrive within 2-4 hours during business hours. If you send a wire after 5pm Pacific, it'll process the next morning. International wires can take 1-3 business days depending on the destination country.
Can I cancel a wire?
Once sent, a wire transfer usually can't be cancelled. Contact our support team immediately if you made an error. They might be able to help, but don't count on it.
